Several  years ago  some friends and fellow researchers, Regina and Dennis Kidwell from Florida made a trip up to Kentucky on a cemetery search.  Curtis met up with them in Knott County.  Regina was in search of the grave of a particular Hays ancestor, (Seattie Hays Griffith) which she found (!) and, as most genealogists know the graves of ANY ancestors that can be found are a real find!  While Curtis was showing them around he was hoping (though not very confident) he might come across the grave of Leonard Pigman, which he had previously not been able to locate.  Well it was a lucky day for them both – Curtis DID find Leonard’s grave!  It was an incredibly hot and humid day, but it seems that the three of them had quite an adventure and a good time to boot!

3.  MASON2 PIGMAN (JOHN1) was born Abt. 1710 in Piscataway, Prince Georges Co, Maryland, and died Aft. 1790.

 

Notes for MASON PIGMAN:

Mason Pigman and his son Leonard both sold land on the same day to the same person in 1789 in Chatham County North Carolina [this can be found in the Chatham County Courthouse Deed Book "D"  Pages 589-591] They remained in Chatham County through at least part of 1790 as they are both enumerated in the census of that county and state.

 

It is known that Leonard and his wife Patience moved to Russell County Virginia, however it is unknown whether or not Mason went with them.

(now Knott Co.), Kentucky.  He married ROSANA AMBURGEY 20 Mar 1816 in Russell County, Virginia her parents home, daughter of JOHN AMBURGEY and ELIZABETH HAMMONDS.  She was born 17 Nov 1795 in Wilkes County, NC, and died 19 Mar 1885 in Willard Branch, Letcher County (now Knott Co.), Ky.

 

Notes for JOHN WESLEY PIGMAN:

While he was sitting under a tree in the yard of the home of his son Wilburn, John choked on a chestnut and died.  He was a soldier in Captain Sangster's company in the was of 1812.

Campbell served as a 2nd lieutenant in Company "A" , 13th calvary regiment, Kentucky Volunteers, CSA, in the Civil War.
