1.  JESSE (SGT. REV.)1 BOLLING was born 22 May 1768 in Wilkes County, NC, and died 10 Mar 1841 in Quicksand Creek, Breathitt Co.  Ky..  He married POLLY GREEN 1810 in Clay County Kentucky.  She was born 1758.

Jesse Bolling served with George Washington at Valley Forge, Pa. 

 

He was county judge for Perry Co., Kentucky in 1821 to 1838.

2.  JOHN E.2 BOLLING (JESSE (SGT. REV.)1) was born 1785 in North Carolina, and died 1838 in Perry County, Kentucky.  He married SUSAN SIZEMORE, daughter of GEORGE SIZEMORE and AGNES CORNETT.  She was born 1784 in Virginia, and died 1862 in Perry County, Kentucky.

REV.)1) was born 1805 in Middle Fork of the Kentucky River, and died 1855 in Mouth of Asher's Branch, Clay County, Kentucky.  She married DILLON ASHER II 20 Apr 1816 in Clay County, Kentucky, son of JOHN ASHER and EMILY.  He was born 1797 in Tennessee, and died 1859 in Mouth of Asher's Branch, Clay County, Kentucky.

REV.)1) was born 1842 in Mouth of Asher's Branch, Clay County, Kentucky.  She married EDMOND (EDWARD) "DICK" JONES 1858, son of JOSHUA HOSKINS and MARTHA JONES.  He was born 1835 in Bull Creek, Clay Co-Leslie Co. Kentucky, and died Abt. 1911 in Jones Fork of Bull Creek Hyden, Kentucky.

 

Notes for EDMOND (EDWARD) "DICK" JONES:

Different accounts show his name as Richard or Richard Dick.  No real basis can be found for these names.  In the various censuses he is shown as either Edmond or Edward and his military service record shows his name as Edward.

 

Private in 47th Kentucky Volunteer Mounted Infantry, Co. H

Served with his brother-in-law Jim Asher.

REV.)1)1 was born 1880 in Leslie County Kentucky, and died 22 Mar 1954 in Hazard, Ky..  He married (1) MARTHA COUCH in Hazard, Kentucky.    He married (2) LILLY BRITTAIN in Clay Co. Ky. (mouth of Big Creek), daughter of CARLO BRITTAIN and ADELINE MARCUM.  She was born 1884 in Red Bird River, Clay County Kentucky, and died 1926.

Lige Jones was nicknamed "Chippy".  He was a champion fiddler and was in much demand for square dancing events around Eastern Kentucky.  For a period of time Lige was a tipper foreman for Wisconsin coal company and after that he worked for and retired from L & N Railroad.

Sherman worked for L & N Railroad from 1926 to 1936.  Following that he worked for the Post Office as Assistant Post Master in Hazard, Kentucky for about 30 years.

Notes for CARLO JONES:

Had a motorcycle accident in Louisville, Ky. and broke his neck.  Sherman Jones went and got him and tried to nurse him back to health in his house in Wabbaco, Ky.  He drove a nail in the ceiling so Carlo could raise himself up occasionally.  The nail was still there years later.
