Died at the residence of his son, Mr. James Jones of this county
on the evening of the January(?) 19th,1879. Wiley Jones. Mr. Jones was one of the oldest men in the county, if he was not
the oldest. It is not definitely known what year he was born, but it is generally supposed by his connection, from all circumstances
and from his recollection that he was born about the year 1781, which if correct would make him about 98 years of age.

Edmund was a Captain in the 24th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry.
Fought at the battle of Shilo with his father Wiley (1st. Leut.). Edmund got sick shortly after the battle of Shilo and died on May 1st. 1862 and his
father Wiley resigned his commission the next day.

that he worked for and retired from L & N Railroad.

Had a motorcycle accident in Louisville, Ky. and broke his
neck. Sherman Jones went and got him and tried to nurse him back to health in
his house in Wabbaco, Ky. He drove a nail in the ceiling so Carlo could raise
himself up occasionally. The nail was still there years later.

Imprimis. I lend to my loving wife CATHARINE JONES during her natural life all my Estate of what nature so ever, and at her death I devise to my son GABRIEL his
heirs and assigns for ever a certain part of the land I now live on beginning
at my upper line where it crosses Aaron's Creek, thence down the said creek to the mouth of the long Branch thence East a straight line to Charles Harris' line upon his paying in two years after his Mother's
death to my executors hereinafter named, two hundred pounds Virginia money
which sum I give to my sons, daughters and grandson namely James, Ambrose,
Stephen and Reuben, Elizabeth Winfree, Ann Sandford, Phebe Gregory &
Peggy Davie, and John Brassie to be equally divided share and share alike. ITEM. I bequeath to my grandson
John Brassie his heirs and assigns, fifty pounds Virginia money. ITEM. The remainder of my estate of what nature
or kind so ever I give to my sons and daughters, and my grandson John Brassie
to be equally divided share and share alike providing that which ever of
my children had an over proportion at a Division I made of part of my negroes

and severally in the full sum of one thousand pounds Virginia money for
the payment of which well & truly to be made we bind ourselves and

The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the estate of
Ambrose Jones deceased hath been exposed to public sale for bond with approved
